In my first Project- ParkPedia. I designed a Apps for kids to get known more about nature. In my last project in 7in7, I want to do another project for our kids to get a connection with nature.

Children like nature. The mysterious ocean with marine animals is always attractive for them. But it is not easy to let our kids to get accessed to the ocean and interact with marine lives.

My 7th Project- Play with Jellyfish is a processing game that let kid use their keyword to have interact with digital jellyfishes, also show how jellyfish swim in the sea  during the game.

They are totally 74 jellyfishes. 40 are blue,25 are white and 9 big one are red. By using arrow key to change the yellow circle’s postion to catch those jellyfishes.

Also,I added another function that you can press the mouse to feed the green food to the jellyfish to make they grow bigger and at the same time it will be easier to catch. In the further if this game can be a online game, Jellyfish’s food can be sold in game store.

For this project I wanted to design controls for a game that don’t use any buttons, just mouse movement. I wanted to do this after painfully watching my parents trying to play a game. Their most consistent feedback was that pressing multiple buttons was confusing. So i tried to make the controls for asteroids with without any buttons.

Constrains: make asteroids controls with no buttons.

The ball (ship) moves based on the distance and direction of the mouse from the center of the window. The idea is when the ball is moving fast enough, it turns red and can break through asteroids without being damaged.

Here’s the end result

For my 5th project, I made a board game out of found objects.

My constrains were that the objects had to be easy to find and disposable. Also the game had to use recognizable rules of other games.

In my case I mixed the rules of chess and checkers, limited each player to 3 pieces, and let the players pick which types of pieces they wanted to use.

The game is played with 2, 3, or 4 players. The pieces are bottle caps and the type of piece is decided by what symbols that the players write on them.

The seventh object, this is a bookrack; the idea is come from my bookcase, I still use the Photoshop to draw it. I use the wood texture to create a real effect of bookrack，and I draw some logos in the menu to display the different functions.

The sixth object, it is still a Photoshop work, because I want to use the Photoshop to make a series of components and adorn my personally blog. This is a volume controller, and the size will be very small, so it doesn’t has many details on the surface. About function, it can control the volume, and there are 3 buttons on the surface, the functions are different.

About this shape, my idea is come from spatula.

Mashup is very interesting. It is involved in a lot of fields, especially in website, users can find a lot of different things in the same page, or they can combine with some kinds of tools to do each thing, it is very powerful, useful and efficient.

Before several years ago, almost each website only has a function, it is only a platform. They have no intersection with other program, if we want to search something, we have to through a lot of different programs, and it is inconvenient.

Maybe in the near future, we can use API do anything in computer, at that time, API replace with some old tools and become tool of mainstream. Now, more and more APIs are opened, this is a clear direction. According to statistics, in 2007, there were produced 10 APIs each day. It looks like pyramid，one API combine with other API. When we show those Mashup in the meantime, there will be produce a new API and share on the Internet, it form an ecology system.

In Mashup, I think the people most care about that protection of intellectual property and consumer privacy. Almost all of the users can find anything through Internet, even digging for information of somebody’s family tree, although, this is immoral.

On the other hand, everything has a double nature; advantages and disadvantages both coexist in this world. How to lower the level of the disadvantages while keeping the broader development? I think this problem need us to think deeply.
