Final project idea
For my final project, I’m very interesting in interactive design and visual effect. And as we all know, a special visual effect can bring different feeling to spectator, such as, scared, relaxed, magic, tense.
The present age knowledge economy society rhythm changes quick, intensity enlargement, people working pressure and the life pressure also increase along with it. Some people smash instant noodles and biscuit packets, and even open Coca-Cola cans to let off some steam, those examples show that the people do not have a right way to reduce pressure. The people can take the edge off stress by practicing relaxation techniques. These include deep-breathing exercises, muscle relaxation, yoga, visualization, hypnosis and massage.
So, I choose the visualization to reduce pressure. Personally, I want to use 3D Projection Mapping tool to help them. Giving them a magic visual effect, and the people can interact with the objects that are projected onto the facade of the wall.
Firstly, I think all of the projects start from a dark space where has no outside influence, no music, no light.
Secondly, the people can try to make any moves, and then the wall will show different effect. For example, if the people do a flying action, and then the wall will show some transformative effect, and so on.

Instruction Sets for Strangers ; Chris Elena Soohyun
We went to Columbus Circle on Friday morning, and tried the prototypes. We found that the balloon is too weak to stand for the place which is very windy. The balloon was almost on the floor because of the strong wind. However, we found that a boat with balloon can attract people, so we will try to find solution of the wind problem that disturbs our project. Also, we need to develop instruction board by scaling size bigger that can be caught people’s eyes. We will combine three ideas of each members; using little bits to attract people, using balloons and boats that people can write some messages on them and using catapult to encourage people to throw their pennies in to the fountain???(which means more “interact” with the environment and also our project.)
Here are pictures and video’s of our test-day.
I apologize for the bad volume of the interview.

Final Project Concept Idea
I have only rough conceptual idea for my final project. I’m very interested in communication between a person and a person, and also people and technology. I want to research about missing communication between people, and work with how people can find missing communication. It can be a communication with myself, or it can be a deeper communication between friends rather than just saying hello on Facebook. We are now having a lot of ways of communication, but I think we are loosing our truly communication. Especially, the communication with myself such as meditation( I can’t let me just stay calm and think about myself and something deep and meaningful because I cannot stop watching Facebook, Youtube, or chatting on the phone.) In the reading, You are not a gadget, Jaron Lanier says, “You have to find a way to be yourself before you can share yourself.” Likewise, I want to catch people’s attention from the technology black hole and bring them on to nature and more human being activities.
I’m thinking to use 3D Projection Mapping tool that can interact with people and get attention from the people, who are too much into Facebook, Twitter and etc., to encourage them to have a break time by getting away from social network connections and concentrating on real communication.
Rough idea for that is project nature environment which is beautiful and peaceful to the ceiling or the wall. For example, when people are sitting on the chair and using lap top too much, the birds in the projected nature environment make some beautiful tweet sounds to get attention from the people and encourage them to get out of social network connection environment and have time to think more meaningful things in their lives.

No Thoughts
For my Final Project, I am really unsure what I would like to do. I know there will be an Arduino involved, but beyond that, I am super unclear. I am completely open to ideas and/or constraints. I’m feeling a little lost with all this freedom…
Perhaps, I would expand upon the physical Murder NYC project, where you would find information about murders in the city via little lights around the city. If I were expanding on a previous project, I think it would be this one. Just as a recap: wherever a murder has occurred in the city, a light would be installed. If multiple murders have occurred, it would shine either brighter or I might work with shades of red. I like the idea of it serving as both a classy memorial marker and it would provide further information if scanned with your phone.
I could also potentially prototype on a very small scale, if there’s either a little screen there or a little projector and using either a motion sensor or a pressure sensor (where people would press a spot) the information would pop up and bypass the whole fun interface.

Final Project: Magic Book.
For my final project I would like to expand on my 7 in 7 project incorporating the edited pictures and a story with each picture into a large book based project. I would like to do a wood or 3D printed box to hold the frame for a long single sheet scroll. The pictures and the story correlating with the picture would be side by side on a hinged frame (pictures in one frame, stories on the other. Over laying the pictures and the story would be a thin sheet of translucent tracing paper. Drawn over this paper on the picture side would be a “glyph” or arcane circle with a hand print inside of it. Using Arduino based light sensors centered under the hand print, when the user puts his hand over the hand print it would cause the sensor to sense the dimming of light and light LED’s positioned under the picture and the text. This would create the illusion that by completing the arcane circle you were creating “magic” and forming the story in the book. There would be one sensor for each of the 7 archetypes and 7 different stories that could be illuminated by magic.
